Sputnik: Not a Shot Fired: How the Skirmish That Killed 20 Indian Soldiers Unfolded
New Delhi (Sputnik): Indian Army sources have said that 20 soldiers including a colonel were killed in a skirmish with Chinese troops late on Monday in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. The troops of both armies have been in a stand-off since the last week of April at different points along the Line of Actual Control.
The violent face-off between the Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army along the 4,057-km Line of Actual Control is being stated as the worst since 1975. The skirmish, which killed 20 soldiers and injured more than 100, unfolded within eight hours late on Monday. Not a shot was fired, but hand-to-hand fighting raged across the Galwan Valley.

WNU Editor: According to Business Insider what started the battle was when 300 Chinese soldiers armed with clubs wrapped in barbed wire and with nails confronted about 50 Indian soldiers .... Hundreds of Chinese troops reportedly hunted down dozens of Indian soldiers and beat them with batons wrapped in barbed wire (Business Insider). Rocks and fists were used .... Soldiers fell to their deaths as India and China's troops fought with rocks (The Guardian). Guns were not present because of a 1996 agreement that prohibits guns and heavy weapons 2 kilometres from the border .... Galwan Valley: Image appears to show nail-studded rods used in India-China brawl (BBC). Much of what we know has only come from the Indian side. I am sure the Chinese will soon be giving their version of this battle.
