CNBC: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, breaks ribs in fall
* Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, fell in her office at the court and fractured three ribs, according to a release from the court Thursday.
* “Tests showed that she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment,” the statement said.
* Ginsburg’s health has been a matter of intense speculation in recent years. Ginsburg, the court’s oldest member, is one of the court’s four liberal justices.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, fell in her office at the court and fractured three ribs, according to a release from the court Thursday.
“She went home, but after experiencing discomfort overnight, went to George Washington University Hospital early this morning,” the statement said. “Tests showed that she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment.”

WNU Editor: I have taken care of enough senior family members in my life to know that when you fall at this age, you are entering a stage in your life when the stuff that you use to do can no longer be done. If she can no longer function as a Supreme Court Justice, this will be the next big political battle in Washington, and it will eat up the political oxygen in Washington for months. I wish her a safe and speedy recovery.
On a side note. In the second year of President Obama's second term I speculated that this would be the best time for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to retire, and for President Obama to appoint a Justice in line of her views of the Supreme Court. Her health problems were well known then, just as they are today. Why she made the decision to not retire is one question that I hope she will answer one day. Simple answer .... I think she thought Hillary Clinton was going to win.
